All About Opal

My very first piece of “real” jewelry was given to me by my aunt when I was eight as a gift for being a flower-girl in her wedding.  It was a tiny gold heart with an even tinier opal inside of it.  I still have the ring today but can only wear it now as a knuckle ring.  With vintage opal rings becoming more and more prevalent as a staple in any jewelry addicts collection, I find myself once again being memorized by this beautiful stone.   Here are some gorgeous pieces I’ve stumbled upon:

The+One+I+Love+NYCIf I could buy any opal ring I wanted right now, this one would be it!  18k gold and platinum, sapphires, rose cut diamonds, and a stunning center opal make up this one-of-a-kind 1920’s stunner.  I’ve recently purchased a ring from The One I Love and was extremely happy with the quality and condition of my vintage piece.  Maybe I’ll have to be a repeat customer 😉

I’m totally smitten with this sweet opal and pearl gold Victorian ring which would look so lovely in a stack (as well as on it’s own).

Framed by sapphires and diamonds, this vintage Australian opal cluster ring from one of my favorite eBay sellers has me drooling every time I look at the photos!  Bidding ends on Monday 1/12.

Snakes are my absolute favorite motif in jewelry and this 1970’s rose gold snake ring I’ve been watching on eBay is mighty tempting to buy.  The opal and rubies are a more recent addition but these stones were the perfect selection to complete this truly unique piece.

This would make one hell of an engagement ring!!  Circa 1905, this platinum ring holds 1.72 carats of diamonds and features the most spectacular black opal cabochon I have ever seen.
